Portuguese: A patronymic byname may be Latinized (filius B) or in the vernacular, usually formed by adding -ez to the father's name (and dropping terminal -o). Patronyms may also be formed by using an unmodified version of the father's name or as de B or d'B (when the father's given name starts with a vowel).
