October 2016 Meeting Notes

Hy-Vee West Meeting Room

Attending: Jutte, Stasi, Juliana, William, Heinrich, Anna, Sifrid, Sofya, Gobban

Seneschal:

Reports are due by the 15th.

Sofya wonders if we want to start setting aside a Sunday afternoon farble/fighter practice time once a month. That way we can start arranging our schedules for it. Maybe 4 pm the Sunday after the business meeting so we can finalize the activities.

Chatelaine:

No new demos set up. She'll contact Hampton in January.

Deodar agreed to do the demo at Wartburg on the 15th from 10:30 am - 2 pm, but they'd be happy to have our help. Need to bring tables - Gobban to get Shire tables from Anna.

Exchequer:

We have money. Event turned out better than she thought, with the final loss only $126.48. We'll probably skip the port-a-potty in the campground next year and the weather should be more cooperative for attendance.

Fighter Marshal:

Not present. Heinrich wants to fight.

Archery Marshal:

We have arrows and bows.

William won the traveling quiver for "branch champion" at Autumn Arrows.

He's planning a winter shoot as usual - details to come.

Chronicler:

Time to submit articles and photos - please!

A&S:

She's sorry about missing the last meeting because of the fire truck blocking the driveway for the downed power line. Next A&S meeting will be calligraphy again to make up for it.

Her Majesty would like nominations for Leather Mallets and Golden Swans for people who will be at the Fiber Symposium.

Juliana has heard back from the Kingdom MoY and will be sending background check paperwork to take on the office.

Upcoming Events:

Fiber Symposium:

November 12th. Lunch only.

There is a Facebook page for the event. Schedule is supposedly up.

10 Kingdoms are represented among the instructors - 48 classes arranged.

No dedicated lunch hour, so we will make sure the menu is easily portable.

Tentatively planning for 180 people although have no idea. Will adjust as Vincent knows more about hotel reservations, etc.

Stasi - Point of Contact (code for, Inn Steward).

Runzas (Juliana with a "runza assembly party" at some point) - roughly 48 of each flavor

• Juliana - beef, BBQ chicken
• Stasi - taco, veggie
• In labeled baskets

Thick soup/stew:

• 2 gallons of each type, both soups gluten-free
• Beef and barley
• Something veggie cream/cheese - Gida
• Jutte to bring her roaster. Stasi to bring one from work.
• We will fill cups and lay out on the counter
• No crackers

Desert:

• Juliana making the energy balls (keep separate because of the peanut)
• Gida making shrewsbury cakes and ...
• Anna to make the death-by-chocolate cookies and get to Stasi on Thursday (two pans)
• Jutte to make some chocolate chip cookies (no nuts, a couple of pans)

Also:

• Cheeses,
• Hardboiled eggs (Jutte to make 5 dozen and provide the salt/pepper packets)
• Grapes,
• Veggie plate

Beverages:

• ice water/hot water, coffee/tea/cocoa/cider packets, Vincent's root beer (?)
• does the church have a spare hot water container?
• Vincent bringing cooler

Ziplock bags for leftovers.

Ice cream pails to re-freeze soups.

Coffee cups for beverage and soup, with lids at least for the beverage

Got 100 tray things so far. Will try to get a total of 300 of them since can use for future events, too. "Strongholder 2-cup carrier".

St. Augustine's Fair 2017 - "It's all about the horses."

August 18-20th

Kaie concerned because it's immediately before Cattle Raids, which is the biggest equestrian event of the Calontir year. She's going to put out feelers.

At Floyd County Fairgrounds, but will keep our eyes open for other options like Osage, Waverly Boy Scout Camp, etc.

Potential Kingdom Event:

Crown Tourney (aim for October 2018) in the new building? vs. in the Caged Fighting. Inn, Feast, Youth activities. Gida willing to autocrat. Might need to be careful that the Fairgrounds hasn't started storing RVs yet.

Queen's Prize (September)? Osage?
