Into the Halls

Lyrics[edit | edit source]
The frost this year came unusually early.
Our crops not yet harvested lay in the ground.
We sought to barter, but with little to offer,
Despite our best efforts no food could be found.
So if we are to survive,
We must take to the longships this day.
And should we fall in battle,
We hope that the Valkyries will say.
Chorus
Welcome, into the halls.
The halls of Valhalla my friend.
Your deeds have been seen in battle,
And you shall rise again.
We sail ‘cross the waves and are headed for England.
A journey we’ve made now and again.
When we land there we’ll make for their farmlands.
Instead of reapers of grain we’ll be reapers of men.
And now we set to battle task.
Our weapons we hold dear.
And should we fall in battle,
We hope that these sweet words we’ll hear.
Chorus
The baron has sighted our ships on the crossing
And sent reinforcements g’ainst which we can’t defend.
We’ve sent the children to retreat to the longships.
The elders of us will fight to the end.
And as the spear tip pierces my side,
I see the Valkyries descend,
They pull me into their embrace,
And speak to me as their friend.
Chorus
