General Information[edit | edit source]

  • Date: 11-19 March 2023
  • Location: King's Arrow Range, Lumberton, Mississippi
  • Royalty: TRM Logan and Ylva, TRH Agamemnon and Marie
  • Website: https://www.gulfwars.org/
  • Gulf Wars app for class schedules, location maps, announcements, etc. under "SCA Gulf Wars" on Google Play or in the Apple App Store.
Note that Troll has moved this year to the clubhouse on the pond and the main entrance will be the north entrance (so traffic flow will be reversed).
Travel Tip: For those going to Gulf from the north through Memphis. At Memphis, TN there is construction just over the bridge before the "oh bugger" exit (the really sketchy one just after the Welcome to Tennessee sign). The k-rails are apparently all over the place. This is making traffic super "fun" according to scouting reports. Therefore, it is recommended to stay on 40 across the river, then getting on 240, then taking 69 to Jackson. This bypasses the construction, the washboard bridge, and the 180 degree off ramp right off the bridge. (It only adds 5 min. to the trip.) Also, the highway between the Arkansas boarder and Blytheville is still an increasingly bad washboard.
Also: There is construction at Grain Valley, Missouri, both east and west. Right lane closed. This just started and looks like it will go awhile.

Comments and Impressions:[edit | edit source]

  • II am certain there has never been any doubt regarding the amazing powers of the Calontir Soup Kitchen, but I have been asked to let the kingdom know that your praises were sung, loud and clear, in the Shadow Legion camp after the ravine battle. Your soup and snacks were the main dinner conversation! I heard it was served timely and that the soup in particular was very tasty, with just the right saltiness to revive a battle-worn mercenary such as themselves. -Adelaide
I would like to thank everyone involved in making the Page School Equestrian Tourney happen at Gulf Wars this year. I couldn't have made it happen alone. Those who helped include Sile Inghean Chairbre, Lee Waldak, Juliana Macnayre, and Josie Turner as well as everyone who made hobby horse heads for the kids, or showed up to monitor the kids during the Meet and Greet portion of the endeavor. We had 34 kids (largest attendance ever). The activity went off without a hitch. -Brent Lecher
