Information Boards & Puzzle[edit | edit source]
Four information boards were set up around the site, each pertaining to a different aspect of maritime trade.
- Map - The first board contained a map of Europe, detailing major port cities between ~1300-1600.
- Evolution of Ship Design - This board contained information about how ship designs changed in the Baltic and Mediterranean and eventually converged
- Maritime Law - This board explored various laws that pertained to maritime trade including ports, salvage, shipwreck and more.
- Communication with Foreigners - This one explored how traders could communicate across cultures at various levels of sophistication.
Attendees were given a challenge in the site book to explore these boards and answer questions based on the information contained therein. These could then be turned in for a prize. Ultimately, only one entry was turned in.
