History in the SCA:[edit | edit source]
Got into armor the first time shortly after his 18th Birthday in 2000 in Deodar. Spent the entire time in kit getting hit with no instruction and in unarmored locations. Did not return for some time. Started playing a foam weapon game Amtgard. Got interested in making armor and so came to an SCA event to talk to Damien about armor. Damien introduced Katsumoto to Sir Dirk MacMartin. Katsumoto started going to University of Iowa in 2002 and lived across the street from the park where the SCA held their fighter practices, and Sir Dirk was hanging out every week. Got interested in making samurai armor and Dirk showed him how, the price was that Dirk wanted him to try SCA again. Katsumoto spent 5 months making his first suit of japanese armor and came out to a fighter practice where he had a blast. Since 2003 he has been participating in both the SCA and Amtgard.
In 2005 he moved to the College of Svaty Sebesta (Vermillion South Dakota) to attend Law school. While there he met and became Squired under Sir Cecil Hagan. Sir Hagan showed him a more broad perspective on the SCA and continued his training. The day that he was Squired to Sir Hagan he won the Ides of March pulled weapon tourney, defeating Sir Hagan in the final round. Moved back to Calontir in 2008 after graduating from law school. Moved to the Barony of Lonely tower in 2009 for work. Corded to the Lonely Tower 2011. Became champion of the Lonely Tower in 2012. Became Cut and Thrust Champion of the Lonely Tower 2014. Fostered under Sir Aleksander Vyetikov 2014.
