Oh the Year was AS 27.<br>
How I wish I was in Grimfells now!<br>
A call to arms from the King was sent<br>
To our southernmost shire at our spring event<br>

Damn them all, I was told<br>
We marched to Pennsic for Eastern Gold<br>
We’d swing no blows, drink some beer<br>
Now I‘m a broken fyrd in a northern shire, <br>
The last of Rorik’s Calontir.<br>

Well, the King’s Huscarls all cried the town<br>
How I wish I were in Grimfells now!	<br>
For 20 brave men all fighters who<br>
would make for him a shieldwall true.<br>

We mustered in at Lilies Six.<br>
How I wish I was in Grimfells now!<br>
For sixty days we were Pennsic bound<br>
Singin’ as we marched, a fearsome sound!<br>

On the sixty first day we took the field,<br>
How I wish I was in Grimfells now!<br>
Then an Eastern unit five times our size<br>  
Was sent to annoy us by surprise.<br>

Our battle plan was a shameful sight.<br>

We advanced to the left, we retreated to the right<br>     
While the knights hung back to watch our plight.<br>

The Eastern banner fluttered blue and gold.<br>

Rank on rank of sword and shield<br>
We met them with glaive and cleared the field.<br>

Their banner and King were ours to take,<br>

When 10,000 chux from the wood did flood<br>
And bore us down under fur and blood.<br>

It’s been six reigns since we marched away<br>
And I just made Shadowdale yesterday<br>

I wrote this sometime ago with a bit of help from Marcus who used to sing it once in a while. I ran across it cleaning up and thought someone might get a kick out of it. Among the possible tunes this could be sung to, Barrett’s Privateers comes to mind.
