Things to do on the North Shore of Lake Superior

Jay Cooke State Park

Vista Fleet Lake Superior Boat Cruises - http://vistafleet.com/ Fall Season (Labor Day thru the 2nd weekend of October) Daily: 10:30am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm $14

North Shore Scenic Railroad - http://www.northshorescenicrailroad.org/Home/Home.asp Fall Season Two Harbors Excursions until Sept 12th - 10:30am Fri, Sat, Sun for $25. The Depot/Museum is an additional $7 ($12 without excursion). Steam Train is $45 and only runs certain weekends. Fall Colors Tour: September 17 - 24, 2010, 10:30am - $27.

Scandinavian Gifts just SW of Two Harbors

Two Harbors. Watch the lake and the ships in the harbor, tour the lighthouse, eat ice cream in town.

Gooseberry Falls - hiking (at the falls), lake watching (at the picnic area by the campground).

Split Rock Lighthouse

Silver Bay Lookout Point - great view, explanation of Taconite industry

Silver Bay Marina - lake watching, safe harbor marina, boat cruise to Split Rock.

Palisade Head - fun drive up the rock, spectacular cliff view, sometimes rock climbers

Tettegouche State Park - agate hunting at river mouth cove, hiking, camping, rocky point sometimes with rock climbers.

Sugarloaf Cove - nice hike with explanation of logging industry, rock beach/cove, nature center

Taconite Harbor - ghost town, safe harbor

Temperence State Park - beach access, etc.

Cascade Restaurant - in the State Park, charming, yummy, overlooks the lake.

Grand Portage National Monument - http://www.nps.gov/grpo/, Hours are basically 9am-5pm.

Ely - Sisu's Yarn and Weaving Shop, The Bear Center (on the way to Bear Head Lake from the North Shore)
