*Halimah is a late 13th Century Mande from the Kingdom of Mali, Her father was the governor of one of the largest provinces in the kingdom, When Halimah was considered old enough, she was  traded to the Arabs by her father upon arriving in Mecca for pilgrimage.  While travelling along the trans Saharan trade route with her new "owner", learning Arabic through immersion.  By the end of the second wave of the Black Death in Europe, Halimah had become a young woman and eventually came to be traded/sold again to a Spanish Lord and lived to serve his  household in Barcelona, Spain. Her lord's family eventually left Spain, travelling along the Spanish coast into France finally settling to live out her adulthood  in Toulon.
