Aldred's life is peaceful and subtle. Aldred, like most Wightwarians, lived in a wooden-tiled home. He grew up farming and building, but also learning to fight as many young men at the time had. Though he was practiced in the art of war, he had not as of yet needed to raise his axe against a foe. But one day Aldred's brother Ædric had rushed to him. Panting and out of breath, Ædric warned Aldred that Caedwalla was on his way from Wessex to raise his sword against the island. Aldred knew that the coming days would bring bloodshed. He steeled himself, and prepared to fight for his family, his king, and his gods. | ||
