Countess Fionna nic Alisdair

Fionna nic Alisdair came to the SCA during the days before Calontir became a Kingdom. She was an early member of the Shire-March of Grimfells. Fionna was awarded arms on October 2, AS XVII at the Investiture of Prince Brummbarr and Princess Valmai. Fionna often worked behind the scenes, holding offices and doing things that needed doing for her shire and for Calontir. Her work was recognized by King Shadan I and Queen Erzebet with Companionship in the Order of the Torse on September 129, AX XIX.

On November 4, AS XXIV, Tomeeki carried Fionna's favor ontp the Crown Tournament field and won the day. Tomeeki and Fionna were invested as the Prince and Princess of Calontir on that day. On March 10, AS XIX, they were crowned thirteenth King and Queen of Calontir. Tomeeki and Fionna were well-loved as King and Queen. Fionna would be the first Queen of Calontir to lead a unit on the battlefield at Pennsic War. As customary, Fionna gave all of those fighting for Calontir a token to carry as her favor on the field at Pennsic. However, Fionna was the first Queen of Calontir who also gave her favor to waterbearers. When Baroness Finola was not present at morning muster when the favors were given, Fionna was informed that she and another waterbearer were already at the battlefield filling water jugs. Fionna made a special point of finding Finola before the fighting started and gave her and the other waterbearer her favor because she wanted to make sure they were included.

When the reign of Tomeeki and Fionna came to an end, Fionna was made a countess and Companion to the Order of the Rose on September 15, AS XXV. As a Royal Peer, Fionna continued to encourage the populace and take on leadership roles in the Kingdom. She served a term a Kingdom Chronicler. On May 10, AX XXXII, King Cuthbert and Queen Branwen recognized her many years of service with Companionship to the Order of the Cross of Calontir. Besides service, Fionna was known for her talent with the embroidery needle. King Edward and Queen Elisabeth awarded the Golden Calon Swan to Fionna on October 5, AS XX. For years, she practiced her art and taught others. King Valens II and Queen Elspeth recognized her exemplary art with the Order of the Calon Lily on May 6, AS XX. Throughout her SCA career, Countess Fionna has been committed to serving her Kingdom, Shire, and the SCA. It was fitting that King Joe Angus and Queen Phaedra invited Fionna into the Order of the Pelican. On September 6, AS XXXVII, Fionna was elevated to that Order. When the time came for Queen Phaedra II to select those whose on whom she award her Queen's Endorsement of Distinction, Fionna was one of those selected.

Over the years, Fionna established herself as one of the best embroiderers in Calontir. So much was her talent that the Order of Laurel reccomended Fionna to King Anton I and Queen Isabeau I that she be elevated to their Order. King Anton and Queen Isabeau agreed. On June 19, AS XLIII at Lilies War, Countess received was recognized as a Companion to the Order of the Laurel. King Ashir III and Queen Ashland II recognized that Countess Fionna was one of those individuals who are truly a part of developing Calontir's culture and augmented her arms on July XIX, AS LIII.

Countess Fionna nic Alisdair, Laurel and Pelican, is a fixture at events in Calontir and has earned her place as a Calontir legend!
