Queen’s Prize is a novice-level Kingdom arts and sciences competition held once a year.

As a novice-level event, entrants may not have Grants of Arms-level or higher level awards in the Arts or Sciences (for example, Silver Hammer, Calon Lily, or Laurel, or outside kingdom equivalent). A Knight or Pelican could enter Queen's Prize if they do not have one of those awards, and so could someone with no awards.

Each entrant must have a sponsor that does have a Grants of Arms-level or higher level awards in the Arts or Sciences (for example, Silver Hammer, Calon Lily, or Laurel). The sponsor may help the entrant but may not do any part of the project for them.

Entrants do not compete against each other directly. The entries are judged against themselves using standard kingdom judging criteria. Three judges discuss each entry face-to-face, working in consensus. Displays are encouraged and documentation is highly encouraged.

Her Majesty, who is Patroness of the Arts and Sciences, announces in Court the entry which most impresses her, which is the reason it is called Queen’s Prize. There is often also a Judge's Choice award.

Arts and Sciences

Entries for Queen's Prize are now open. The window to enter runs until midnight on April 19th.

In addition to our standard entries with face-to-face judging we are having a "Display Only" option for the Queen's Prize this year. You have a space to display your entry and any documentation you wish but will not have a judging session scheduled.

Entrants who choose "Display Only" may choose to have a sponsor, but a sponsor is not required for the display. Display entrants with a sponsor will receive a sponsor gift in court along with the standard entries; display entrants without a sponsor will not.

Sponsors are still required for all traditional QPT entries.

We are always in need of Judges! There is no award requirement to be a judge, just some knowledge of the subject matter.
