* The oil in the pot was burning. It had probably only just ignited. The kitchen was right behind where the thrones were set. At first it smelled like something cooking, but then the burning smell took over. I was fairly focused on coronation, but a part of my brain was tracking the smell. Comments and Impressions:

Kingdom Kindness

  • On Saturday, when we evacuated Court for our “fire intermission” (as it turned out, our intrepid new Crown continued with an outdoor court), I ended up on a very cold, stone bench with snow under my feet and no wrap. A very kind young man came over, took off his coat and wrapped it around me. He was in a single layer linen tunic. I protested but he insisted. I am not acquainted with this lovely person but would love to express how grateful I was and to say this is why I love my Kingdom so much. ~Johanna [sic]
    • To add to this wonderfulness, I’d like to call out his grace Lucian Fidelis offered up his coat to another and his excellency Logan wrapped me in a blanket (thank you again!!). The generosity of our kingdom comes in many forms and it never ceases to amaze me. ~Nadyha
    • I also want to thank Logan for giving me a coat! If the fire taught me anything (aside from don’t leave grease cooking) it’s go make sure you have winter garb. ~Anna
    • I was there—it was Charles from Lonely Tower. ~Cara

The Fire

  • The best I know it was something that was on the stove or in the oven that was left on from the day before [not Calontiri] and started smoking during court. I don't know for sure but it hadn't caught fire yet when the smoke disrupted court. The offended pan was removed and taken outside. ~Juliana
  • Baron Lawrence the Leech was "johnny-on-the-spot" with assessment, communication, and action before it got out of hand. ...I shutter to think what would have happened had it not been addressed by kingdom. Would have not been a good start to 2022. ~Court
  • There was a kitchen adjacent to the room court was in, and somehow a pot of oil seemed to have been left on a stove, and started to smoke off. It was carried outside and dealt with, and the fire department confirmed the building was safe, and used a big fan to clear smoke. No damage to the site or people. ~Nate
