Queen's (prize)/(melees &) Mayhem yesterday was absolutely lovely. There was time and space to see and enjoy every A&S entry. I understand that the melees provided quite a satisfying amount of mayhem. This truly was a tourney where everyone wins! HRH Ylva
Like many others have said I had a delightful time at Queen's Prize Tournament. I loved how the event facilitated wonderful conversation--I learned something from every person I talked to. This was my first A&S competition and couldn't have been a better experience. I learned so much, including that I'm much better than I thought I was. My favorite Calontir event so far! And even though I won't be able to be a participant next year I definitely want to come next year for the conversations and learning!

Osiyo!
I wanted to take a moment and share how amazing some of the people who helped make Queen's Mayhem are.
First to Alianora, Ysabel, Erikr, and our unknown newcomer, for making the Afternoon Inn a reality. (And Giraude for the cookies and prepping!)
To Malina Attewode for the lovely breakfast and putting up with me.
Giovanni and Selene for making trolling in run so smoothly.
And Vashti for single handedly managing the plague check in.
While there are others to thank for their help, these are the people who the event would not happened had they not been there.
Last but not least, to Lisette Reuss, Maegwynn Attewode, and Sir Seamus (John Stuart Byrnes) we love you and know you would have been right in there with us had the plague not come and visited your home.
Wado, Moon

Queen's Prize is a wonderful Calontir event! There were ~30 entrants (most of us first-timer-ever at QP), nearly twice that many "judges"--though "advisors" would be a better term. I had three Laurels sit down with me and chat about my embroidery, getting lots of good advice--and, I hope, making new friends. Even got in some "judging" of my own: That meant giving feedback on a research paper: what worked, what might improve it some; drawing out what the intended audience was, what the take-aways should be; but also geeking out with the writer on the wonderfulness of the topic 🙂 Got a chance to wander around the hall and see what other people were doing--from pickles to knives to saffron-dyed cloth to a book of arms of Calontir royalty dating back to before we were a principality. And every entrant took home a prize. I got a huge bag of embroidery floss in more colors than I can describe. This is so characteristic of Calontir: Everyone, even experts, bent on making everyone else, even novices, feel special and welcome. Warm & tingly! Thank you all! --Shoshanah bas Nachman
My wife and I had a great time at Queen's prize yesterday! It was her first event and my 4th and only my second A+S competition. I recieved alot of wonderful feedback from all the people attending and some hopefully useful advice on bladework from my table mate Caleb who ended up winning the queen's favorite. I felt before the judging that I was luring myself into a false sense of security and a more expert and critical eye of the judges might be a less glowing view. I was surprised. The judges told me that although I said I was a novice they REALLY judged my entry at an intermediate level. It was very encouraging to hear that my craftsmanship is at a higher level than my hyper critical eye expected. The only points I lost were in documentation which was honestly expected. Thank you everyone who attended for lifting me up and for giving my wife a great first event. - Alex D.
There are so many things to say to people for helping with and attending Queens Mayhem, but all I can really say is... Wado! Donadagohvi, Moon
