Activities

• I am a former fighter having been authorized in Heavy Armored Combat in both the Kingdom of An Tir and the Kingdom of the West.
• Due to medical issues, I am unable to fight in Heavy Armored Combat now, but I am still capable of sideline marshalling.
• I have also had a great deal of training in Light weapons fighting and Cut and Thrust.
• I have dabbled in some of the fabric arts, mostly sewing and weaving.
• I am proficient in the art of viking wire weaving, and am interested in other areas of jewelry making. Notably looking into making cameos.
• I have recently been introduced to the scribal art of manuscript border illumination, and I am currently pursuing that with some strength.
• I have been involved with service in heraldry for nearly my entire tenure in the SCA.

History in the SCA:

Timeline:

• When started in SCA: It was a fair day in AS XXVI when I first encountered a fighter practice in the Shire of Wolfscairn, Kingdom of the West. I attended several meetings, including business, arts and sciences, and heraldry cross referencing.
• In AS XXVII I moved to the Shire of Starhaven, Kingdom of Trimaris and became active in both the Shire and the local College of Golden Keep, serving as the latter's Group Herald for a term. I also became actively involved in heavy armored combat, and learning the ins and outs of armor smithing.
• In AS XXX I attended the Spring Trimaris Crown Tourney, in which Duke Sir Baldar won his fifth crown, earning the unofficial byname of "King at Will".
• In AS XXXI I returned to Wolfscairn and became inactive for a time.
• In AS XXXIV I moved to the Shire of Needleham (now gone), Kingdom of Ansteorra. I was moderately active, but mundane life tended to get in the way.
• In AS XXXVII I moved to an area of no affiliated local group in what was soon to be the Kingdom of Glenn Abhean. I attended fighter practices, dancing lessons, and a revel in the Shire of Standing Stones.
• In AS XXXIX I returned, again, to Wolfscairn and tried to return to some activity, but those that I had been in contact with were inactive or gone.
• In AS XLII I moved to the Barony of Blatha An Oir, Kingdom of An Tir. I attended several fighter practices and became authorized in heavy armored combat.
• From AS XLIII to XLIV I spent time in the lands of the Byzantine Empire working in the capacity of a foreign soldier. A Varangian if you will.
• In AS XLVII I moved to the Stronghold of Warrior's Gate, Palatine Barony of the Far West. There I became very active. I served as group Knight's Marshal, and was awarded arms. I also earned the Order of the Burdened Bouget, Honor of the Broken Tusk, and the Order of the Empty Shell.
• In AS XLVIII I moved to the Stronghold of Hell's Gate, Kingdom of Ansteorra. I attended several meetings.
• In AS LI I moved to an unaffiliated region of the Kingdom of Calontir.
• In AS LVI I helped found the contact group in north northwest Calontir that is now the Shire of Villa Frumentaria. I am currently active in this group and am serving as the Group Herald.

	Hedeby Hood Reconstruction	Built based on photos of a find at the Hedeby site from the 9th century. Fabric used is wool and stitching used is similar to examples from the find and other fabric artifacts at Hedeby.
	Viking Shield	Built using laminated birch wood (plywood), backed with three stakes of solid oak. The face was covered with bleached linen and painted with four red whorls from the center. The center boss was made of stainless spun steel due to expense. Instead of using rawhide to edge the shield, I used a rope with rubber tubing over the edge, tied on with thin jute twine.
