Gabbai Da'ud ibn Ibrahim al-Sisari

Meaning: "David, son of Abraham, from the city of Sisar"

Commonly called: "Dawi" or "Davi," the Arabic diminutive of "Da'ud"

Preferred title: "Gabbai" (pronounced "guh-BYE"), a Jewish community leader often tasked with helping a Rabbi with the Torah

Persona

Turn-of-the-millennium Jewish Buyyid Persian courtier who has traveled among the Rus'. Based loosely on the life of Ahmed ibn Fadlan.
