The Piasa Bird[edit | edit source]

According to Brock Hanke: "The Piasa Bird was the first totem animal we tried out in the Shire of Three Rivers. It's actually an early Native American cave painting, in color, resembling no bird I've ever seen, on a cave wall in Illinois, but very close to STL. You can probably find an image pretty quick on the internet. I know that we ended up with the Three Rivers banner, but I'm not at all sure whether our totem animal ended up being the Piasa Bird or the Demo-Bison or the combination of Horse and Eagle that ends up looking like a hippogriff. The horse is Arwyn's totem animal; the eagle is Stephen's. The combo makes for a VERY nice heraldic picture."
