Special Features:

The Fyrdraca

This replica of a viking-era boat is one of Lilies War’s most iconic attractions. The boat is docked on the point near the battlefield/beach and offers rides throughout the war. There are no set boarding times, just listen for the horn - two long blasts from the horn indicate an upcoming excursion. There will be classes covering the basic lingo and operation of the Fyrdraca on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Come on down and learn more about crewing the ship. Be warned, passengers will be asked to row… or bail! http://www.lilieswar.org/fyrdraca-information/

The Great Machine

The Great Machine is a dog-powered mill in the A&S area. Stop by to see the dogs run on the machine and to learn about the development of machinery and animal power in the Middle Ages.

The Lake

Yes, you can go swimming. There are no lifeguards on duty at the beach. Swimwear sometimes gets creative after 10 pm.

The Mews

The land of the falcon also loves its feathered friends. Stop by to see these birds of prey [location?].

Fireworks

On Friday night, Lilies War hosts one of the best fireworks displays around, in a tradition honoring Wulfgar Skypainter. Even the locals gather in their boats on the lake to watch our fireworks.

A&S Opportunities:

Taste of Calontir

Traditionally, the talented cooks of Calontir welcome us to war by offering a sampling of medieval cuisine at the permanent shelter near the battlefield. In 2017 the cooks will be part of the Artisan Road Show on Thursday morning (see below).

Tailor’s Tent

Over the course of the war, volunteers at the Tailor’s Tent sew an outfit for their Majesties to wear. Stop by and lend a few stitches to the project!

Dye Book Field Trip

An expedition to travel Fort Leavenworth to view Nenpyō senryō no rekishi. This book was published in 1994 and is suppose to be THE book on historical Japanese dyes. There is only one copy outside of Tokyo - at the Library of Congress. Initially, an inter-library loan was denied but the ILL office did say they would send it if the Library of Congress Asian Dept approved the request. We hope to get enough people willing to take an afternoon or morning and drive/carpool 45 mins to Ft Leavenworth Research library. Nakos Theodorosides will provide directions and instructions on how to get on post easily. I'm looking at two days, the first day either Tues, Weds, or Thurs and the second day on the second Sat.

Glass Tent

The glass tent is located in the A&S area and provides a unique opportunity to learn how to use fire to melt glass into beads and vessels.

Pottery Tent & Dragon Kiln

The pottery tent is located in the A&S area and provides classes where you can learn to make your own pottery. Better yet, you may have the opportunity to have your work fired in the wood-fired dragon kiln that is built on-site each year. Make sure to stop by on Wednesday afternoon (weather permitting) to see the dragon breathe fire.

Noontime Singing

Each day at noon, a group gathers to sing medieval music. You are welcome to join in.

Bardic Encampment

Calontir loves to sing, so of course there’s an encampment dedicated to bardic activities. Lilies Ball musician rehearsal is daily at 11am in the Bardic Pavilion. And there is often singing in the evenings, in between other activities. You don’t need to know the words - you’ll figure them out and if you can’t sing well, sing loud.

Classes

Calontir’s Royal University (RUSH) offers dozens of classes on a wide variety of medieval arts and sciences each day of the war.

Artisans

There are a number of other artisans who set up their shop at Lilies. You’ll find a wood-wright’s shop set up across from the shower, several blacksmiths, a metal foundry, weavers, spinners, and more.

Artisan Roadshow

On Friday morning of War join us on Noble’s Row (above the battlefield) for the Calontir Artisan Roadshow! We are hoping that all will come out and display our finest crafts. Any who have a specific craft they can display along the road, please come out to craft and chat with aspiring artisans young and old. Make contact with people who can carry on the craftsmanship you have made your passion!

Social Activities & Parties:

The Broken Harp Tavern

If you don’t know where to go, head to the Broken Harp - where everyone knows your OTHER name. The tavern offers a wide assortment of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the war on a by-donation basis. A crowd often gathers at the Harp and singing usually ensues.

Sunday

Imaginations of the Future Garb Party

Any people wishing to participate should create an "attempt at period garb" that represents the theme, Imaginations of the Future. – Translation – Hey, it’s a Sci-Fi Garb night. Wear medieval garb that is inspired by sci-fi characters, shows, stories, etc. Or just come in your regular garb and hang out. A prize offered for bartender’s choice of best garb

Middle Eastern Hafla

On the first Sunday of Lilies War 2017, the Falcon Wing Dancers will be hosting our second Annual night of Middle Eastern dancing and music on the swimming beach! We are looking for musicians and dancers to come out and enjoy a beautiful evening under the stars! We would like to intersperse performances with free dance, as well as a few short lessons. Bring your woodwinds, strings and drums! There will be a few light snacks and non alcoholic drinks provided. All donations are welcome as well. https://www.facebook.com/events/1726601497654094/
