Lilies War 2024

The Original "War Without Enemies"

War of the Lilies is a week-long event held in the center of the Kingdom of Calontir near Kansas City, Missouri, in the middle of June. It has been said that Lilies is so much like a vacation, you may forget it is a war!

Lilies War is held at the Kelsey Short Youth Camp on the beautiful shores of Smithville Lake - about 30 minutes north of downtown Kansas City (and even closer to the KC airport). The site features open fields, separated by wooded areas and is nearly surrounded by a swimming lake that never closes.

Come join us for a week of battles, tournaments, classes, archery, medieval games, shopping, and nights of singing, dancing and reveling.

Gate Fees:

• Adult all week - $85

There is a $280 (2 adults and 2 minors) family cap for all week attendance. There is no family cap on day passes.

About the Bees!!!! "Well, Let me tell you a story.......need a drink first? Last year I was in charge of merchants and had my maps and my plans and all in order, ready to go, and the night before the event steward messages me and says "we've got a problem". Turns out that lovely spot had been occupied by bees that spring and the park rangers would not move them. So........at the very last minute I had to move merchants around to accommodate these bees and they were given their own 30 x 30 space to cavort in. I am informed that they enjoyed it so much they are still there. This is very problematic for me; as they did not register or pay their fee last year or this year. I'm afraid I'm going to have to have a stern talk with them when I arrive." --Antonia Stefani, Merchant Coordinator

Competition/s

Seige Weapons

The siege community will be hosting a siege weapon building competition at Lilies War this year. If you are participating, you will bring your weapon or engine to the siege field to demonstrate its capabilities and show off your talents. Though of course we would love to see what it can do, it does not have to be a completed weapon nor does it have to be functional, so don’t worry if there’s still some progress that needs to be made. Works in progress deserve to be celebrated too!

Prizes for “Best in Show” and “Most Unique” to be given out and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions about materials and building specifications if you intend on making your weapon able to be authorized on the battlefield or used for target siege.

I can’t wait to see what all of the amazingly talented artisans in this kingdom can do and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone for all of the siege activities we have planned for Lilies this year!

His Majesty Fjolverker of the Outlands named William the Stoneskipper (a Calontiri) the Royal Stoneskipper of the Outlands.

Honorable Lord Skallagrímr Bárðarson and Honorable Lord Hieronymus, as event stewards, shared news of the event, and received gifts from Their Majesties.

There were 775 people who attended the War.

Team Outlands won the BBQ competition.

The “Made on Site” bardic competition was won by Noble Zilia Silvani.

The Queen’s Yeomen winners were Honorable Lord Asher de Lokwode, Lord Copin di Gentile, and Nonahme of Heraldshill.

The Youth A&S competition was won by Bridger.

RUSH War certificated were given to those who earned them this week. Their names will be published in a separate post of The Falcon Banner when they are available.

Honorable Lord Óttarr Surtsson brought news of the upcoming Virtual Known World Newcomers Symposium.

27 newcomers came into court to receive mugs.

Sir Odo de Home delivered gifts to Their Majesties Calontir from Their Majesties Drachenwald, Their Highnesses Drachenwald, and Their Highnesses Nordmark.

We will have breakfast available (we do ask for donations there), and most evenings will have dinner available - the NG Hosts are trading off dinner duties.

Newcomers' Glen will be hosting quite a few classes throughout the week! Most will be held in the Glen itself, except where otherwise noted. These classes are open to anyone, whether camping with the group or not. All of these can also be found on the master schedule on the Lilies War website (lilieswar.org).
